Carstian Luyckx (1623 - c. 1675) was a Flemish painter. Other spellings of his name include Christiaan, Christian, Lycksc and Luycks. Born in Antwerp, Belgium about 1623, he was especially known for painting still lifes and vanitas. While his name is not as widely known today, he was held in great regard and was very successful in his time. [1] Luyckx later moved to France, where he was able to influence other vanitas painters, including Simon Renard de St. André. [2]
